LAW AFTER ENGINEERING IN INDIA

UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA OFFERING A 3 YEAR LLB COURSE

If you are still wondering if law after engineering is a good choice? Then it is the best idea to stick to the field you are in. You are confused. Drop the idea right now.

If you are desperate to change your field, do not use law as a second career option to just explore. It is not easy, it involves tremendous amount of hardwork, tons of books, and even if you are prepared for it, most importantly you should have a passion for it. Otherwise, you will end up a frustrated lawyer hidden behind tons of files, in a shabby office in one corner of the city. After all it is going to be your second Bachelor’s degree, so it better be a choice of your liking.

DO NOT get fooled by the hype of an IPR Lawyer or Patent Lawyer that you saw the other day, in a shiny black suit, you will need to be the best at the game to reach there. There is tons of hardwork required, there is absolutely no short cut!
So I guess, all I am saying is, take a step back, and think before you plunge into a completely new field.
Better, rather best, is to consult someone who has been in the field of law for a few years.
Ask about the current trends. Discuss about what exactly you want out of this career in law.

Only, if you are genuinely interested in LAW, crazily passionate about law to such an extent that you are ready to start from scratch after a 4 year intensive engineering degree, then go ahead and apply for a law course. You will not repent. Your profile will be in demand in law firms, private / public research centers, IPR firms, Patent Advisor, Patent Officer, Private companies, IT companies, R&D centers. There are plenty of roles for a smart, successful Lawyer, because you will be the rare breed who know both, technology as well as law.

Take a look at the various law courses on offer in India and abroad.

    Hello Sir,
I appreciate ur great job, lots of info here. I hv a some questions with regard to 3years LLB admission. Can u plz Help ? My questions are :-

    a) Plz suggest good & up to the mark Law colleges in U.P.? [N.B.:- I hv checked many in gr.noida & gzbd. but either they are not recog. by BCI or there approval has lapsed or any other default is there.]
    b) Is admission to 3yrs LLB now open, if yes then which session ?
    c) Is there entrance test for 3yrs LLB admission, specifically in U.P. ?
    d) Is there still any age Bar from BCI for admissions, if not can u plz give the Link to BCI notification in this regard ? [searched the BCI website with 100eyes but could’nt find them mentioning the lifting of age bar. although the bar imposed notification is still in place.]

Also, lots of colleges are assuring that the age Bar has been lifted but without evidence.
    My knowledge :-
The BCI imposed age Bar restrictions (along with many other Rules & regulations) for admission to 5years (21years {i guess}) & 3years (30 years {i m sure}) LLB courses throughout India which was challenged by almost 16 different petitions in various High courts throughout India. The BCI then went to Supreme Court against all these petitions so that the decision should be one & Uniform. Thereafter there is No Info……….whether BCI withdrew its age Bar notification OR the H’nble Supreme Court gave a Stay or any other verdict is Not Clear. Then on what substantial grounds are the colleges (specially in U.P.) claiming that the said age Bar has been lifted ???? PLZ Clarify ASAP.

As far as information in this article is concerned, it is highly doubtful. The list which comprises of unsure colleges offering LL.B courses and list which says that these colleges DO NOT OFFER LL.B courses includes Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. In fact, FoL is one of the top most universities in India from where eminent judges and lawyers have completed their respective study of law and this university is famous for offering 3 years courses of LL.B only. It stands in top 3 bracket of leading law schools of India.
Before posting information, kindly google it because it is better to be ignorant rather than possessing wrong information.
